Little pygmy seahorse off the coast of Japan makes us smile

It’s Monday again, and we’re ready to get back into the full swing of things. Almost. With our love for football clouding our judgement, and our first regular season game coming up this Saturday, we can hardly wait for the weekend. Trying to make it through this week is going to be a chore! So, we’ll try to focus on things that make us smile. Here are some of our Favorite Things that have kept us feeling upbeat over the last couple of weeks. I hope they make your Monday a little less of a shock and put a smile on your face!

We regularly break out into song lyrics in our household, and when a tune gets stuck in our heads, it can be there for days. This little gem always makes us laugh and keeps us singing and moving. The Greatest Kid On The Planet has all of the dance moves down perfectly! The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week” is one of The Greatest Kid’s favorite weeks during the summer. He’s a little obsessed with sharks, and I think we’ve seen every shark movie there is from the gripping and gruesome to the slightly amusing and simply ridiculous. I knew he’d be awed by these images of divers in the midst of these amazing predators. Some of them are downright chilling. Amazing Shark Photos

Around here, we’re big fans of magic, mystery, and illusion, and The Greatest Kid especially loves a good card trick. He’s been practicing and has developed an impressive repertoire of his own. When this young man, Shin Lim, appeared on America’s Got Talent earlier this year, we were both captivated. His talent is nothing short of mesmerizing. Shin Lim’s Amazing Magic

Nothing boggles our minds or makes us say “wow” more than the wonders that surround us every day. Isn’t it amazing that, even now, we’re still discovering new species we weren’t aware of? Just recently, researchers discovered a colorful pygmy seahorse in the shallow waters off the coast of Japan. This tiny creature is no bigger than a grain of rice. How incredible is that! Who doesn’t love a real-life hero? Tamara S. from Janesville, Wisconsin, sent us this clip about a boy who received a life-saving gift. Last year, when eight-year-old Jackson Arneson was badly in need of a kidney, his mother made a public plea on Facebook for a donor. Milton City Police Officer, Lindsey Bittorf, responded and donated her kidney to help the young boy. What a true inspiration she is! This story prompted some great conversation with The Greatest Kid On The Planet about organ donation and helping others in need. Thank you, Tamara, for sending it in! Milton City Police Officer Donates Kidney

If you have any favorite stories, pictures, or videos that you’d like to share, send them in! We’d love to see them!

Have a great week!
