These days, our weekends go by way too fast, but only because they’re packed full with The Four Fs: Family, Friends, Football, and Food! And this past weekend was no exception. It’s going to be a task to get through this week with Fall break waiting for us on the other end; we’re looking forward to spending time in one of our favorite places with our favorite people. But in the meantime, we’ll find plenty of things to keep us smiling. Here are some of our Five Favorites from the last couple of weeks that have brightened our days. I hope they help make your week a little brighter and put a smile on your face!

We believe life is something to be celebrated, and we’re all about celebrating personal victories. The Greatest Kid On The Planet’s favorite victories are those that come on the football field. Unfortunately, not every game can be a win. But the way we see it, whether a game ends in a win or a loss, as long as he gave it his all, then it’s a victory. Over the last two weeks, he’s scored five super touchdowns for his team, and we’ve watched them over and over. We love staring at the moon and the stars and contemplating what’s out there in the universe. The Greatest Kid is studying Astronomy in school, and he recently shared with me an amazing video about the Hubble Telescope. Hubble was launched into space in 1990 and is still orbiting the earth today. Astronomers have made amazing discoveries about our universe from studying the images Hubble has captured. It’s Monday again, and we’re ready to get back into the full swing of things. Almost. With our love for football clouding our judgement, and our first regular season game coming up this Saturday, we can hardly wait for the weekend. Trying to make it through this week is going to be a chore! So, we’ll try to focus on things that make us smile. Here are some of our Favorite Things that have kept us feeling upbeat over the last couple of weeks. I hope they make your Monday a little less of a shock and put a smile on your face!

We regularly break out into song lyrics in our household, and when a tune gets stuck in our heads, it can be there for days. This little gem always makes us laugh and keeps us singing and moving. The Greatest Kid On The Planet has all of the dance moves down perfectly! The Lion Sleeps Tonight

With so much negative news and disparagement circulating around us, it can seem difficult to keep a positive attitude. And with social media running rampant, it’s a chore just to manage the images and messages bombarding us, and our children, on a daily basis. So, in an effort to fill our lives with positive energy, some time ago, we started a new tradition in our home that we call “Five Favorites”.

Each night at dinner, one of us shares something we learned, read, or saw that made an impression. It can be anything that made us laugh, or smile, or made us say “wow”.  It’s a fun way for us to focus on things that are positive and inspirational.

So, to start off your week, here are some of our favorites from the last couple of weeks. I hope they make your Monday a little easier and put a smile on your face!

The Greatest Kid On The Planet surprised me with something I haven’t seen in a long time. We love this little jingle by Bryant Oden. It gets in our heads and makes us laugh. Do you know this one? It’s called The Duck Song.
